Professional Resources

Our Mission

The mission of the BioCommunications Association is dedicated to enhancing the professional competency of its members and advancing the profession by educating and developing creators and users of visual communication media in the life sciences and medicine. Here in the Professional Resources section of the website the BioCommunications Association would like to make the following resources available to the public.

YouTube Channel

The BCA's YouTube channel features educational videos on photographic techniques. View videos on Technical Photography and from BIOCOMM.

BCA hosts an email listserv that is open to members and non-members to exchange information on techniques, products, and general networking.

The Certification Committee develops certification programs for areas of expertise. Each certification category is for only one type of photographic process.

The BioCommunications Association has funds available for assisting persons actively pursuing careers in biological imaging. BCA membership is not a requirement.

Learn from the Experts

Learn from the Experts highlights 10 images and interviews the BCA members who created the images. Learn how each image was created and then read an interview with the photographer.

Behind the Image

BioImages is BCA's annual competition showcasing the beauty and complexity of medicine and science through the eyes of professional photographers, videographers and illustrators. The quality of their work reflects how much they love what they do and sharing with it others. Learn more about how the image was made and about the person who made it.
