Who We Are

The BioCommunications Association, or BCA, is an international professional association of people working in the biological communications field. BCA wants to assist you in maximizing your success using images to communicate. With educational resources, programs, materials and a network of colleagues able to offer advice and support, BCA is equipped to address your professional needs. If you are concerned with effective visual communication in the life sciences and medicine, there is a place for you in the BCA.

Mission

The BioCommunications Association is dedicated to enhancing the professional competency of its members and advancing the profession by educating and developing creators and users of visual communication media in the life sciences and medicine.

The BioCommunications Association shall become the foremost source of education and expertise for all creators and users of visual communication media in the life sciences and medicine.

Diverse Specialities

The BCA is an eclectic group operating within a wide range of imaging specialities including clinical and surgical photography, forensic photography, gross specimen photography, ophthalmic photography, dental photography, veterinary photography, close-up and photomacrography, photomicrography, and  invisible radiation imaging to name a few. Our tools include still and motion digital cameras, lighting, audio, computer processing and analysis software, and we even have people still using analog film techniques!

International Reach

BCA members come from all parts of the globe, including North and South America, Africa, Europe, India and Australia. A combination of online and in-person communication and  learning opportunities means that you can be an active member wherever you call home.
